Meet Dr. Maxwell

Founder/CEO of Sagacity Global Psych & Associates

Casilda R. Maxwell, Ph.D. is the founder and president of Sagacity Global Psych & Associates.  She has a heart to work with communities domestically and globally at large. As a proud native of “The Charm City”, Baltimore, MD, and a die-hard Raven’s fan, she is focused on family and community. She has taken her dedication to addressing the psychological needs of individuals and organizations and her passion for travel to give life to her firm, Sagacity Global Psych & Associates.

 

Dr. Maxwell earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Morgan State University.  She then earned both her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Counseling Psychology at Howard University.  While completing her educational pursuits Dr. Maxwell also earned her Diploma of Ministerial Studies from Spirit of Faith Bible Institute in Temple Hills, MD.  This intersection of faith and science, gives Dr. Maxwell a unique insight that helps her to bring together the power of these two worlds, to meet her clients at their individual places of need.

 

Dr. Maxwell’s approach to therapy is integrative and client centered in nature.  She is trained in Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).  Dr. Maxwell has a passion for working with adolescents and adults in the areas of depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, relationship issues, stress management, spiritual concerns, racial identity development, systemic racism, personality dysfunctions and survivors of abuse and trauma.  She approaches her clinical work with an integrative therapeutic approach of spiritual insight, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic interventions.  She strives to work with clientele by individually meeting them where they are by giving attention to their unique experiences, psychological symptoms, cultural experiences and spiritual/religious beliefs.  She has experience working with survivors of sexual trauma and domestic violence, racial diversity concerns, spiritual/religious issues, and military personnel.  

 

Dr. Maxwell is also a highly sought-after consultant and public speaker inside and outside of the faith-based community.  She works with of myriad of community-based organizations and professional companies on various issues impacting the environment and individuals’ mental health. As a public speaker, consultant and trainer she takes a catered approach to address the uniqueness of each organization’s needs.  Her work in this area focuses on topics such as Self-Care and Burnout Prevention among professionals, Mental Health in Spiritual community, Trauma, Vicarious Trauma, Mental Health in the Black Community, Racial Microaggressions, and Implicit Bias.
